PadaKali - Learn one kannada word a day

Recently I stumbled upon a nice website http://www.padakali.com
Here, 'Pada' means 'Word' and 'Kali' means 'Learn'.

PadaKali is an attempt to teach Kannada one word at a time. PadaKali will post one Kannada word everyday along with its meaning and popular usage. The idea is to teach people common words that they can put to use immediately in their day to day lives.

For each word, they provide the meaning and 2 or 3 popular usage scenarios. Also audio version of the same is available to play online from an embedded MP3 web player or download as MP3 file. This definitely helps you to know how to pronounce the kannada words OR understand the phonetic sounds.

Learn Kannada. One word at a time. Get one Kannada word with its meaning and usage daily.

I hope it helps you to explore commonly used kannada words on a daily basis.

Bought 4 books at Kannada Sammelana 2011

Yesterday (Feb 4th) evening, I attended Kannada Sahitya Sammelana 2011 at National College Grounds, Basavanagudi, Bangalore.

According to me, the BEST part of the event is Book Fair. First time in my life, I witnessed 1000s or lakhs of Kannada Books of numerous authors from 100s of distributors or publishers presented in approximately 400 stalls over there. It is really tempting to buy as many books as possible :D

Feb 4 to 7 - Kannada Sahitya Sammelana 2011

After 4 decades, Kannada Sahitya Sammelana 2011 is coming to Bangalore again. Last event at Bangalore was in 1970.

Kannada Sahitya Sammelana
(Kannada Literature Conference) is the premier gathering of writers, poets and kannadigas. It is held with the aim of preserving and developing Kannada language, its literature, arts, culture and music. It was started in 1915 and held at Bangalore for the first time.

After a long break, I take this opportunity to restart my blogging activity to write translation blogs (english to kannada), about kannada, spoken kannada, kannada words, kannada grammar, kannada events, kannadigas, topics related to kannada, etc in this blogging space : http://english2kannada.blogspot.com
